In Remembrance – Jim Giesbrecht 1945-2022
On Sunday August, 28, 2022 our firm and family lost a great man. Our father Jim Giesbrecht, passed away at the age of 77.
“James Leonard Giesbrecht was born on March 25, 1945 in the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, MB to parents Katharina and Henry Giesbrecht. He was brought home to a small acreage in Fort Garry and welcomed by his two older sisters, Jeanne and Florence. He was three years old when his family moved the country near Horndean and six year old when they settled in Morden. He went to school for 12 years in Morden and was involved in a variety of sports there making many lasting friends. After a year of basic accounting taken at Success College, Jim met and married Patricia (Pat) Marie Jarowslawski on August 3, 1969. Their oldest child, Kelly James, was born on October 9, 1973 and their second child, Jennifer Lynn-Marie was born on January 29, 1976, They moved from Winnipeg to Tisdale, Prince Albert and LaRonge, SK before they moved back to Morden in 1985. During his early married life, Jim took correspondence courses in accounting until he graduated as a CMA in 1976. He opened his own office, Giesbrecht Financial Services in 1987. Here he served his client faithfully. His son, Kelly, took over the firm in 2009 and Jim worked for him until his retirement in 2020.
Jim was predeceased by both his parents; his beloved wife Pat; is dear sister Jeanne; his step sister-in-law, Sandi and his brother-in-law, Ron.
He leaves to mourn his son, Kelly (Krista), daughter, Jennifer (Neil) and grandson, Bradley. Also missing him already are sisters, Deb (Ken), Florence, stepsister, Maria (Jack), stepbrother, Randy (Brenda) and many nieces and nephews.
Memoria service was held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden with interment prior at Hillside Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation designated to Cancer Care.”
We want to thank everyone who has called, emailed, sent a card to know that they do not go unnoticed and we appreciate each and every message. It has been a difficult time, but we will get through this.
